Brett A. Veinotte, Vice-President
Brett Veinotte has worked in private education for the last ten years, in a variety of capabilities.
While still in college, Brett began working at a Southern Vermont boarding school as a residential counselor. After receiving his B.S. in 2000, he sought greater involvement in the school's education programs. As an Outdoor Education Leader, he initiated adventure and team-building programs for previously campus-restricted students with severe behavioral and emotional challenges. He also coached soccer, basketball and softball.
In 2002 he was promoted to Lead Teacher for one of the school's satellite locations. Along with the program's lead clinician, he led a successful restructuring of campus clinical and educational program goals, implementing a new curriculum, a less restrictive residential setting, a full outdoor education program, campus jobs opportunities and additional enrichment opportunities. He authored and implemented the Sim-ciety life skills curriculum, focused on personal responsibility, community involvement, micro-economics and 21st Century job skills. In an effort to enhance this career-oriented curriculum, he developed and managed the school's first newspaper, employing his students as writers, photographers, and editors.
From 2004 to 2006, Brett taught History and Mathematics at the Great Expectations School in Manchester, VT. He also managed all special publications projects, including yearbooks, calendars and brochures. He designed new curricula for all classes he taught, including American History, World History, Media Ethics, Film History, and a variety of mathematics courses. While teaching at Great Expectations, he completed masters level coursework in educational leadership, and the secondary education certificate program at Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts.
In 2006, Brett began to work exclusively as a private tutor in the greater Boston area. Much of this work was related to standardized test prep (SAT, ACT, SSAT, SAT II, ISEE), but also included providing essay writing support to college applicants, leading training sessions for prospective teachers taking state certification exams, and serving as a liaison between parents and public schools, to address student needs and parent concerns.
